Frequently Asked Questions
BS EN ISO 9001:2000 - BS EN ISO 14001:2004 – BS OHSAS 18001:2007
Q. Will you guarantee that we will pass our Certification Audit?
A. No. We will ensure that everything you require is in place but the implementation of the system is normally your responsibility. The exception to this is where you require a Maintenance Contract when we will oversee all aspects of your Quality Management System. Either way, we will help you to overcome any Non-compliances identified by the Certifying Body.
Q. What about training?
A. We will train your Quality Management Representative. We can also train your Internal Auditor/s if required. If we identify areas where additional training is required we will endeavour to meet this requirement.
Q. What about BS EN ISO 14001:2004 and BS OHSAS 18001.2007? Will I benefit from these and will they help to address my existing Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety needs?
A. There is an increasing demand for Environmental Management Systems that meet BS EN ISO 14001:2004. This demand is driven by changing legislation, increased environmental awareness, customer specification and many other factors. BS EN ISO 14001:2004 is similar to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and the two Management Systems can be developed together or as separate systems.
Guidance on OHSAS and Health & Safety Management is available through BS8800 and HSG 65. However, it is not possible to assess or certify a Company against these guidelines. OHSAS 18001:1999 was developed to meet this requirement and a revised version, BS OHSAS 18001:2007, is now available. This Standard has international recognition and is being implemented as a British Standard in the UK and elsewhere.
OHSAS 18002:2000 is the ‘Guidelines for Implementation’ of OHSAS 18001 and is currently being reviewed by the British Standards Committee for developing into a British Standard.
The implementation and operation of BS EN ISO 14001:2004 and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 is more demanding than BS EN ISO 9001:2000. However, there are many benefits such as enabling organisations to meet the increasing demand for evidence of compliance with environmental and health and safety legislation.
